Kath is a Research Fellow at the University of Stirling who obtained her PhD on the molecular ecology of wild gorillas from Cardiff University in 2003. She was based full-time in Gabon between 2004 and 2017, directing a conservation training centre and the SEGC research station in Lopé National Park before being appointed as Scientific Advisor to Gabon’s National Parks Agency. Now based in France, she continues to support the Gabonese government on climate change and REDD+ carbon crediting mechanisms and has led the technical work enabling Gabon to submit its first forest reference level to the UNFCCC. A member of the ATBC, BES and subject editor of the African Journal of Ecology, Kath has a broad scope of research interests in tropical ecology, focusing on applied research that provides tangible solutions to environmental challenges.
